I'm a conservative, Biblical-believing Christian and for me this was just not following in the teachings of the Bible. I think the general ideas presented were Biblically-based, but in terms of acting those out, the writers encouraged extremely demeaning and submissive (not in a Biblical way) behavior from women. As a woman, I totally recognize my husband as the spiritual leader of the house. But, honoring him by staying up late because he wants me to even if I don't want to, or watching baseball even if I hate it or not gaining 10 pounds because he doesn't want me to (all examples given in the book) are offensive and not helpful to me trying to love and serve my husband as he tries to love and serve me. Super disappointing. Be careful with this book if you don't want a complete Stepford wife relationship. The first few chapters start well and lull you into the sense that this will be a quality book. But then it veers off, telling women to always agree with their husbands and never turn them down for sex, no matter what. We then move into some terrible medical advice such as using a tampon to control the 'mess' from sex (incredibly dangerous practice that could cause toxic shock) and some other outdated nonsense about some STDs (yes, women with herpes can have a vaginal birth safely).Caution at every turn.
